Dr. Cheryl Osso

Dr. Osso joined the team at AVS in spring of 2015 as a graduate from the Ontario Veterinary College. She is a mixed animal practitioner. She has particular interests in behaviour and reproduction in small animals, as well as bovine and small ruminant practice. She lives in Carleton Place with her partner, Rob, and their two rottweilers, Samara and Tali. She is active in the dog sport world with her dogs, competing in agility and training in pulling sports and scent work. She frequently has cat or kittens in her house as fosters. She took over ownership of the clinic from Dr. Goodman in 2017.

Dr. Rob Clark

We are lucky to have Dr. Rob Clark in the clinic part time while Dr. Raftis is on maternity leave. He will be lending us his surgical experience, and performing Cruciate Ligament surgeries, including extra capsular technique and tightrope technique, as well as offering fracture repair services. He enjoys getting to know clients and is very invested in their pets. He has worked in Smiths Falls and Renfrew, and is happy to work closer to home in Almonte. In his spare time, he spends a lot of time at the gym – and you’d recognize him – at 6’6″ he’s hard to miss!

Dr. Tara Raftis (currently off on maternity leave)

As the redhead of the team, Dr Raftis is quite memorable! She completed her in clinic training with the team at AVS, and joined as one of our veterinarians in 2018. She is a graduate from the Ontario Veterinary College, and lives with her husband Sean and daughter Abby in Carleton Place. They have a German shepherd named Danni, and three cats, Mimi, Duke and Cat-Cat. She is a mixed animal practitioner and likes to spend time with her family and exploring the outdoors on her days off.
