Veterinary Technicians

Eunah Yoo

Eunah moved to Canada from South Korea in 2014. She graduated from the Veterinary Technician Program at Algonquin College in 2017, and became a Registered Veterinary Technician that same year. Her interests as a veterinary technician are anesthetics, cytology, and dental procedures. In her free time she enjoys hiking, doing yoga, snowboarding. But her favourite is spending time with her loving family and pets. She lives with her husband Yongchan, two daughters – Sumin and Nahyeon – and three cats Pumpkin, Pie and Oreo.

Justine Roy Sevigny 

Justine graduated from Boreal College in 2018. She had done part of her training with us, and we were happy to have her join the team after graduation. She lives in Kanata, with her dog, Maya, who she adopted from the Ottawa Humane Society, and her cat, Kleo. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, and other outdoor activities. She is happy to provide a smiling face here, and cuddle with your pets if they need to stay in hospital.

Heather Jackson

Heather joined our team in March 2020, she has previous experience working in referral and specialty practice, and enjoys practicing high quality medicine. She has additional interests in ultrasonography and complicated internal medicine cases. She prides herself on exceptional patient care.

Lindsey Cotter

Lindsey graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at Algonquin College. She currently lives in Arnprior with her Golden Retriever named Tucker & cat named Ollie. She has been working in the Ottawa Valley since graduation, with a passion to work with animals of all shapes & sizes. She has lots of energy & has a special interest in surgery. Her interest extends into the post-operative period, as she enjoys helping orthopedic patients with rehabilitation. She enjoys the outdoors & spending time with family and friends on her free time.

Veterinary Assistants

Sandy Nolan

Sandy has been working at AVS since 2008. Her daughter lives in Alberta and manages a feed store. She has one horse, several duck, two dogs and two cats, one husband and two children. She lives in rural Beckwith. She enjoys working with the animals here, and is an important part of our team.

Paige Comerford

Paige graduated from Algonquin College Veterinary Assistant program in February 2018. She is from the Clayton area and was happy to find a job close to home. She joined the AVS team shortly after graduation. She has a Golden Retriever named Gus and a horse named Eddie. In her spare time she enjoys the outdoors. She can be found at the reception desk, or in the treatment area helping to make your pets visit as comfortable as possible.

Taylor Hewitt

Born and raised in Kanata, Taylor turned her attention to her true passion, animals, after graduating from Carleton University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and Media Studies in 2017.

Taylor first volunteered at the Ottawa Humane Society in the canine enrichment program before securing a paid position as a Client Representative and was responsible for fielding all emergency calls from the public, and walking callers through the difficult surrender and euthanasia process.  She also worked directly with the spay and neuter clinic – an initiative of the Ottawa Humane Society.

Taylor’s experience at the Humane Society helped earn her a role as a Veterinary Assistant at a west end Veterinary Clinic where she worked prior to joining AVS where she can be found answering your phone calls and/or helping to provide the best care to your pets

Client Care Representatives

Ellen Syme

Ellen is our longest standing staff member, working here since 1992, shortly after the clinic’s inception. She graduated from Sheridan College in 1980. She is well known around town, and is actively involved in her church. She is vital to the operation of the dairy farm she, her husband and her son own, Symcroft Farm. She enjoys showing their holstein dairy cattle. Ellen is the best known staff member here at Almonte Veterinary Services, and can be counted on to enjoy a conversation, or learn about your pet whenever you come into the clinic.

Christine Major

Christine joined our team in July 2019. She is a friendly face at the front desk and can be relied on to greet pets and people alike. Christine has a background in both the veterinary field as well as working in technology. She really feels that she has finally found her calling at Almonte Veterinary Services, and knows that she was meant to work with animals. She is happy to assist you and your furry loved ones with any veterinary needs they may have.

Jodi McComb

Jodi joined our team in 2016 as part of our reception staff. She’s always happy to greet people with a smile.  Born and raised in the Clayton area, she currently resides there with her husband and two children. She has two dogs, and three cats. She loves animals and can always be counted on to bottle raise a litter of kittens in need. You can find her at the reception desk ready to greet you with a smile.
