Veterinary Technicians


Bridget McCanny, RVT

Bridget joined our team in July of 2021 after graduating from Algonquin college. She is a member of our orthopedic team and has a passion for anesthesia. Bridget enjoys studying pain management for the wide variety of species that come through our doors! She has a rescue cat named Auri who came to AVS as a young kitten with multiple fractures. Auri underwent orthopedic surgery with Dr. Clark and is now living a happy, healthy life with her best friend, Willow the potcake dog.


Heather Mott, RVT 

Heather is a graduate of Veterinary Technician program at Algonquin College and joined our team in March 2020. She is originally from the GTA, but currently lives in the Almonte area with her husband and daughter, as well as her border terrier (Wilf), cats (Frick & Frack), and small flock of laying hens.  At the clinic Heather enjoys providing care to in hospital patients, surgery and anesthesia, and helping her team. She has a special interest in improving patient care and pain management. In her spare time, Heather enjoys arts and crafts, reading, and spending time with her family and friends. 


Lindsey Cotter, VT

Lindsey graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at Algonquin College. She currently lives in Cobden with her Golden Retriever named Tucker & cat named Ollie. She has been working in the Ottawa Valley since graduation, with a passion to work with animals of all shapes & sizes. She has lots of energy & has a special interest in surgery. Lindsey is a key member of our orthopedic team with interest extending into the post-operative period, as she enjoys helping orthopedic patients with rehabilitation. She enjoys the outdoors & spending time with family and friends on her free time.


Robin Rainer, VT

Dominique Soucy, RVT

Dominique graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at University of Guelph- College d’Alfred. She currently lives in Kanata with her 3 dogs (Navi, Piña and Smithers) & 2 cats(Pym and Sheldon). She worked 10+ years at the Ottawa Humane Society with a passion for canine behaviour before moving on to work in small animal general practice. She aspires to help all animals enjoy their visit with low stress handling and positive reinforcement.  She also has a soft spot for exotics and chickens. She is proud to be part of the orthopedic crew and looks forward to helping your furry friend get back to their happy active life. 

She enjoys all outdoor activities, bonus if her dogs can come along.


Jamie Baxter, RVT

Jamie graduated the Veterinary Technician program at Northern College in 2017, and has been loving working as an RVT ever since. She joined our team in May 2024. Some of her favourite aspects of the job include venipuncture, lab work, patient care, and nutrition. In her free time, she enjoys rock climbing, crochet, painting, and spending time with her dog, Lacey. 


Veterinary Assistants


Sandy Nolan

Sandy has been working at AVS since 2008. Her daughter lives in Alberta and manages a feed store. She has one horse, several duck, two dogs and two cats, one husband and two children. She lives in rural Beckwith. She enjoys working with the animals here, and is an important part of our team.


Paige Comerford

Paige graduated from Algonquin College Veterinary Assistant program in February 2018. She is from the Clayton area and was happy to find a job close to home. She joined the AVS team shortly after graduation. She has a Golden Retriever named Gus and 6 other working dogs. In her spare time she enjoys the outdoors. She can be found at the reception desk, or in the treatment area helping to make your pets visit as comfortable as possible.

Client Care Representatives


Ellen Syme

Ellen is our longest standing staff member, working here since 1992, shortly after the clinic’s inception. She graduated from Sheridan College in 1980. She is well known around town, and is actively involved in her church. She is vital to the operation of the dairy farm she, her husband and her son own, Symcroft Farm. She enjoys showing their holstein dairy cattle. Ellen is the best known staff member here at Almonte Veterinary Services, and can be counted on to enjoy a conversation, or learn about your pet whenever you come into the clinic.


Christine Major

Christine joined our team in July 2019. She is a friendly face at the front desk and can be relied on to greet pets and people alike. Christine has a background in both the veterinary field as well as working in technology. She really feels that she has finally found her calling at Almonte Veterinary Services, and knows that she was meant to work with animals. She is happy to assist you and your furry loved ones with any veterinary needs they may have.


Rebecca Foley

Rebecca grew up on a farm in the Ottawa valley. After graduating from Willis college with a business degree in 2017, she knew she wanted to apply her knowledge and understanding in a atmosphere she felt passionate about and truly enjoyed. 

Rebecca has two children, Braxton and Georgia. She takes pride in teaching them about animal care and shares the love of their many chickens and Maltipoo Caesar. She enjoys spending her time coaching her

children’s sports, playing baseball or in the outdoors!

Rebecca is one of the first of many friendly smiling faces you’ll see at Almonte Veterinary Services , and always ready to strike up a conversation about your pet! 


Jodi McComb

Jodi joined our team in 2016 as part of our reception staff. She’s always happy to greet people with a smile.  Born and raised in the Clayton area, she currently resides there with her husband and two children. She has two dogs, and three cats. She loves animals and can always be counted on to bottle raise a litter of kittens in need. You can find her at the reception desk ready to greet you with a smile.
